Location

The FINO1 research platform is situated in the North Sea, approximately 45 kilometres to the north of Borkum, in a depth of some 30 metres of water. The exact site coordinates are as follows:

N 54° 00' 53,5" E 6° 35' 15,5"

FINO1 is located in the immediate vicinity of the operating wind farms Alpha Ventus, Borkum Riffgrund I and the westbound TrianelWindpark Borkum. Wind turbines of the Borkum Riffgrund II and Mercury wind farms are also already supplying electricity. Other wind farms in the immediate vicinity are under construction, approved or preparation.
