Data transmission

Data recorded on the platform are transmitted to the mainland via a 32 Mb/s directional radio link to the island of Borkum. On Borkum, data are fed into the landline system, and transmitted from thence to the German research network. From here, raw data can be retrieved and processed by the agents of measuring institutes. The major proportion of results is fed into the FINO-database, where they are accessible to the general public. Further research results are published, or are available on this website.

Early in 2012 – by way of emergency link – a satellite connection was set up as an alternative form of communication.
